I have been so inspired by the amazing photos that people are taking that I thought I would share some ... this bejewelled ladybird was taken on a Sunday morning in Jens Kolks garden when the world was covered in dew. It just shows that you should have your camera with you at all times!

I am totally inspired by his amazing nature photography and it has just confirmed to me that its the direction I want to go in.

Camera Strap

I have just finished making a new camera strap for Ju-Ju ... the one that came with it is just a bit of plastic really, and although strong enough as the camera is not heavy, its just a bit plain and could rub around the neck.

I decided to crochet one ...

and added little flowers on each side, to match the body of the camera

I am really pleased with it :)

A Friend For ROWAN

I can't believe it has been a month since I last blogged on here ... I have been doing lots of extra hours at work over the last few weeks, so my photography has had to take a back seat this month :(

One good thing about all these extra hours is that I have treated myself to a DIANA MINI ... I only ordered it last night, so it hasn't arrived yet, but I am so excited >::AHHHH!!::< thats me being excited!

It is a Diana Mini Jiyu - Freedom and is limited edition in honor of Japans Golden Week .... I just think it is really pretty. Diana cameras take film (you remember that stuff!) and you can get lots of lovely nostalgic effects with it ... I really can't wait to have a play. So what is Rowan Rose' new friend going to be called ... well I am not really sure how you say Jiyu, so how about Ju-Ju? ..... I am really not sure though until I see it when it arrives :)

Oh and some other news, I have set up a proper site for my photography ... www.wanderingdryad.com ... there isn't really much on there yet. I am waiting till I finish my course.

Today the sun shone and it was perfect for a trip out to Brockhampton Estate ... this beautiful place is so romantic and quaint ... perfect for photography! I took over 80 photos ... don't worry I am not putting them all up ;) ... but there is still a lot ...

We had a lovely walk through a wood, which Dilly-dog loved! And I satisfied my love of taking pictures of roses!!

I got this book on Monday ... Collins Complete Photography Course

If you would like expand your photographic knowledge, then this book is great for covering the basics ... it has lots of projects, tips and easy to read information.

Camera BAG

Before I even got Rowan-Rose I was looking at all the lovely camera bags and cases that there are out there ... I found my dream bag on Etsy ... made by

... a lovely leather bag with pretty green vine and a rusty red inside!

Sadly out of my price range at the moment, but definitely at the top of my wish list!

... But I need a bag now ... I am away for a few days this week taking some photos of trees for a friend of my Auntie and I think I need more than Rowans cosy to keep her safe! So last week I had a scour of the internet and found this fun bag on Amazon ...

Not really the sort of bag I would normally go for, but I thought it was more fun than the others that are out there ... it just arrived and I love it ... this is her all tucked up inside.

Teri and I have reached week 40 of our photo project this week so I treated us to camera necklaces that I think we are going to make into charms for our camera bags ...

I think I will make it to go onto this bag!

How Much Would You PAY?

It took me months to save up for Rowan-Rose ... I spent ages researching and trying out cameras in shops and asking people what they had ... and I love her ... I made the right choice ... she was the camera of my dreams .... for my budget ... but you know what, if I had over a million to spend would I spend it all on a camera ... not camera's or camera equipment ... but 'a' camera ... I think not!

Someone did though!

It is an extremely rare model of a Leica 0-series, only about 25 prototypes were made in 1923 and this is one if them. It sold to a private collector from Asia for a world record of 1.15 million. It was sold recently by The WestLicht Gallery in Vienna and was described as 'excellent and fully working condition'

I would love to see photos taken with it!

Reading Module 1

Well today I have been putting my brain into gear and reading through module 1 of my photography course ... can't say I understand all of it yet, but I am sure it will all make sense soon ... it is all about cameras and lenses ... whats best for different types of photography etc. This started me looking at lenses for Rowan Rose ... I need to start saving again!

The first on my wish list is a filter ... shouldn't take me too long to save (£20.99)

And I think after that it will be a wide angle lens ... a bit of saving required! (£365.99)

I am so excited about doing this course though and am looking forward to the day when my brain understands all I am reading! There are a couple of bits I would just like to share with you (that I did understand!)

'A final word regarding lens care - don't drop them. They really hate it'

'Camera Care: Wipe them periodically with a slightly damp cloth and dry. Try to be gentle with them and never use one as a weapon unless your life is at risk'

Wedding Adventures

This weekend my brother got married .... it was a lovely time as we all stayed in the same hotel as the reception so had a great family party! These are just a few of the photos I took. I didn't take too many of the bride and groom as we are getting copies of the official photos, but I did take nearly 200 shots ... these are just a very small selection!

They had a lovely old vintage bus to take us too and from the service and as the wedding was LEGO inspired, the cake reflected that beautifully!

The Photography Institute

Last week I enrolled in a diploma course at The Photography Institute. I am really excited about actually doing it after planning it for what seems like ages, but is actually only a few months!

This is the first module (of 12) ... I just hope my brain is up to it ... I haven't studied for 17 years (ahhh am I really that old!)

Our First Big Adventure ~ CROFT CASTLE

Well Rowan Rose and I have been out every day, but just to town and the park where I walk Dilly-Dolly, but today we had our first big adventure ... Croft Castle (Herefordshire) It has been a really lovely day out and apart from getting a little sunstroke and headache because I can't find my sunglasses, it has been perfect ... I definitely recommend going there if you are in the area :)

Please bear in mind that I have not played much with the settings, so these are still just basic pictures, but I think that Rowan Rose and I are getting on really well ;)

ROWAN's first photo

I have been waiting for today for months ... been saving my pennies, doing lots of research and trying out of cameras in camera shops. Last Wednesday I transferred my savings and went to get my new camera .... sadly the one I wanted wasn't in stock in the red :( but I ordered it. Usually only taking a couple of days to arrive, the bank holidays meant it would be a week. The shop was very helpful though and I got a £25 4GB memory card thrown in for free!

Well today, my patience paid off and I picked up my new best friend ... a Panasonic Lumix G2 ... did I mention she is red?? hehe

I have a lot of learning to do and an instruction manual to read, but I am so happy!

The first photo I took with my iPhone a couple of years ago was of Dilly-Dolly so I thought it only fitting that Rowan's first photo is of her too (......... yep she is named!)

I have lot to learn and can't wait to learn it
